Hello Everyone!
I hope you all had a chance to enjoy the holiday season and take a break from your university classes! I thought I would give you an update about my past couple of weeks and what I have been working on. December was a busy month and I had an opportunity to do some travelling and connect with some PwC colleagues from other offices.
I was selected to be the Saskatoon office representative for a newly formed PwC Canada committee called the Staff Council. The Staff Council is comprised of PwC employees from across Canada. Each line of service (Tax, Consulting and Deals, Assurance, Internal Firm Services and Private Company Services) is represented and the staff levels range from senior associate to senior manager. Bill McFarland (CEO of PwC Canada) started this council to hear direct from the voices of PwC members across Canada with an aim to make PwC an even better place to work.
For the first meeting, I travelled to Toronto to meet with the team. We had a social event to get to know one another and met the next day to discuss work life flexibility It was really nice to hear other people’s perspectives and idea’s. Being part of this council is a great way to network internally with other PwC employees from across Canada and allows me to make a difference at PwC.
In the month of December I also had the opportunity to go to Calgary for a week of training and began planning my December 31, 2011 audits. Plus I managed to take a few extra days off over Christmas to enjoy time with family and friends, which was a great break.
Talk to you soon!
PS – On Thursday January 26, PwC Saskatoon will have a few staff members at the 6th Annual Edwards Networking Event at the Edwards School of Business – drop by our booth if you are interested in career options at PwC.
