My name is Ainslie and I am a Senior Associate in Tax in the Vancouver office. I graduated from the University of Alberta with a BA (in Art History!) in 2006, and then completed a Diploma of Accounting at UBC before starting in the Tax CA program at PwC in 2008.
At PwC, I have had the chance to work with ton of different clients, from huge multinational corporations to small, owner-operated businesses. One of my clients, a fashion retailer, was so small that its owner was not only the company’s sole employee, but she also designed and modeled all of the clothes!
After passing the UFE in 2010, I chose to focus on International Tax as my area of specialty. In this group, I get to work with clients in a wide range of different industries, helping them to resolve their cross-border tax issues, and learning a lot about their business objectives. I love that my role is different with each new project – I never get bored – and I get to feel like I’m actually helping my clients.
I’ve also met some of my best friends at PwC - ski trips, softball games, countless fundraisers and social events, and, well – work! – have all provided great opportunities to meet so many intelligent, interesting and fantastic people!
I want to give you an idea of some of the great experiences you can expect from your time at PwC, so please feel free to post questions and comments – look forward to hearing from you!

Dear Ainslie,
I read your story and I am really inspired by your story for pursuing your accounting career. Just like you, I am a DAP student with no academic background of accounting. Not like some other DAP student, I can see you as a determined girl keeping your goal consistently. And I want to be someone just like you.
Could you share your experience from entry level in PwC with me? I really look forward to know how to make myself qualified for PwC. Hope to hear from you soon...

Hi, Zoe - thanks for being brave enough to leave the first comment! I hope that over the next little while some of these posts will help you learn a little bit more about what it's like to work at PwC. If you have any specific questions though, definitely feel free to ask!

Hi again Ainslie! It is cool to see your blog here after meeting you in person at the networking event and Tran's income tax class up on the Burnaby mountain! I have put some serious thoughts on the recruit this year after testing out the game a bit in 2011. I am absolutely interested in the taxCA program in PwC!! And at the same time, I am also curious about how you made the decision of heading to the taxCA instead of the regular one back then :)
From Sean's video, I get a sense that the tax group is more of a small family in the big PwC world. So what is the culture here like? What are the common topics about the office (oh of course, other than tax tax tax)!
Thank you for your time to share these with me and all the other students.

Hi Deena, thanks for taking the time to comment! Glad to hear that you're interested in the TaxCA program. I know I've gotten a lot out of my experience so far, so I definitely think it's a fantastic path to pursuing your CA.
As well, thank you for inspiring my next blog post! I get asked a lot about why I decided to go through the Tax route, so I think that's a great idea for my next post. Stay tuned - should go live later today...

Hi Ainslie,
Your blog have really provided me with an amazing insight to what Tax CA program is like - from learning and development to mentorship.
I am currently in the process of developing an interactive blog on the UBC Accounting Club website this year to provide students with valuable information regarding the many facets of accounting. Julia have told me that you are someone that can help us with our blog. It will be great if we can feature you on our blog as well as help students direct to your blog.
Please let me know if this works for you.
Sincerely
Wilson

Hi Wilson,
I'd love to help out with the UBC Accounting Club blog! I am actually having a lot of fun writing these, and I love getting the feedback from students on what they're finding helpful, or what issues they want more information on.
Please feel free to send me an email (ainslie.s.muzzin@ca.pwc.com) and we can discuss.
Look forward to hearing from you.
