Lors de mon dernier blog, je vous ai promis de vous parler de l’engagement social de PwC. Cette semaine, je vais donc vous raconter la journée que j’ai passée chez Autisme Québec l’été dernier avec quelques-uns de mes collègues.
One thing I love about PwC, is how dedicated PwC and the staff are to giving back to the community. In our local office there are always team volunteering activities available to take part in. Some of these include helping out at a food bank and building homes. Team volunteer activities are not just a great way to give back to the community, but also a great way to build relationships in the office.
Last week, I had the opportunity to spend a day volunteering with Common Ground, a non-profit organization. What did I do? Baked cookies! I will admit that it was my first time baking cookies so I was a little nervous on how they would turn out.
Who knew giving to charity could result in my becoming a wine connoisseur? In the Mississauga office, everyone looks forward to the numerous events that take place each fall to help raise money and awareness of the 2009 United Way Campaign. The United Way is an organization that provides support to those individuals who need it the most. Through the United Way, donations are distributed to over 200 health and social service agencies, including the Canadian Red Cross, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto, Scouts Canada and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Recently, I was the highest bidder for the “Wine Connoisseur Package” in my office’s silent auction…I am looking forward to cracking open my bottle of Gewurztraminer with my next meal!
