I recently returned from a fantastic conference that brought together some of the most dynamic and entrepreneurial minds in the Toronto tech community in an intimate “retreat-style” environment (#fireside).

The premise was surprisingly simple: provide an immersive community-building experience by encouraging us to leave our devices in our cabins and be in the moment. Pretenses were dropped and we shared a sense of mutual vulnerability and had some truly authentic conversations.

Out of those candid conversations, we talked challenges. And there was this one underlying theme that we began to notice.

Great expectations—A tale of two perspectives

I recently bought a new house, and so I’m in the thick of both renovations and decorating. It’s exciting browsing for new furniture and appliances. Like many people, I do much of my research online, but I also want to see the item in store to try before I buy. However, when I get to the store, I’m often disappointed because my in-store experience isn’t as seamless as my online experience.
